When a medical issue arises, it is recommended to first contact your primary care physician (PCP) as they have the most knowledge of your history and condition. However, if your PCP is unavailable or you are experiencing a serious illness, receiving treatment at an urgent care clinic or emergency department (ER) may be more appropriate.
Understanding the difference between Urgent Care and the Emergency Room will allow patients to save time and money. The graphic to the left shows the difference between UC and ER, as well as a few examples of conditions that are treated at each.
